It all started back in 2012, when Travis moved to Thornton, Colorado, looking for a fresh start. He landed at a dealership, thinking it’d be a decent way to make a living. Turns out, he was a natural. Sales awards piled up. Promotions followed. But when private ownership gave way to corporate cost-cutting, it was clear: the game was changing — and not for the better.

Then came a phone call from a dealership doing things differently. No games, no hidden fees, no pressure — and every salesperson was on salary. Travis joined the team and quickly rose to Finance Manager. The pace was wild. The team was moving between 800 and 1,200 cars a month from a single location. It was trial by fire, but it built skills most people never get in a lifetime of selling cars.

The Fast Lane Education

High-volume dealerships don’t give you time to catch your breath. You learn fast — or you don’t last. Travis quickly mastered the ins and outs of finance, closing deals, structuring payments, and understanding exactly how and where dealers make their money.

Travis joined a company focused on refinancing auto loans, helping families across the country escape high-interest car loans. It was a moment of clarity: real people were suffering because they didn’t understand the fine print. They were getting into bad deals — the kind he used to write every day.

With rates at historic lows, he helped people drop monthly payments by hundreds of dollars and cut interest rates by double digits. But something clicked. What if buyers had that kind of insight before they signed a car contract?
